In addition to engaging with Denmark’s social, economic, and political positions, we practiced negotiating diplomatically, delivering speeches in English, and holding our own in UN committees. Two practice simulations—one at the castle on the University of Hohenheim campus and one in Tübingen, each involving the universities of Tübingen and Heidelberg—helped us gain confidence in the format and develop a sense of tact for negotiation.
On March 31, 2026, our journey finally began. Our hotel was located in the Financial District, right in the heart of the city that never sleeps. During the Study Week, we immersed ourselves deeply in the world of international diplomacy: During our meetings with the Permanent Mission of Germany and the European Union, we gained direct insight into the day-to-day workings of diplomacy. Visits to ARD, LBBW, UN Headquarters, and the German-American Chamber of Commerce also opened up new perspectives. On April 6, the moment had finally arrived: the conference began, and with it, the culmination of what we had been working toward for months. For four days, we represented Denmark with strong arguments, negotiating skills, and team spirit. Our efforts did not go unnoticed: we won two Position Paper Awards! But it wasn’t just the awards that made this journey special. International politics brought us together, but it was the shared experiences that truly bonded us. Conversations late into the night, shared challenges, and unforgettable experiences in New York—all of this made NMUN 2026 more than just a project.
